Day 4 #100DaysOfOldDays
In 1983, skin tight jeans were fashionable. After begging my mam for two weeks, she eventually bought me a pair in Finnegans.
Not only were they tight, they were probably a size too small. I had to use the pliers to pull up the zipper.
But the legs weren’t tight enough, so I took them in with the sewing machine. Now they were perfect—until I sat down. The zipper burst.
I peeled them down my legs but they got stuck at my heels. I had to resort to the scissors! Mam never knew I butchered my new jeans.

Today’s tale is also my 99-word story challenge for Charli Mills at Carrot Ranch February 14, 2022, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about zippers. What are the zippers for? What challenges do they present to the story? Go where the prompt leads!

That is so funny! I wanted a pencil skirt. Mom made most of my clothes and so she made me a pencil skirt. Except it was not tight enough and not short enough for the style of the day. So I got out the sewing machine and sewed it in and shortened it. She was horrified.

Thank Goodness Mother’s haven’t really got eyes in the back of their head. Another perfect picture accompaniment.

There were times when I believed my mother did have eyes in the back of her head! Thanks Ellen. Yes, Lucy is doing well with her drawings! 👏

Ah Glo, the skinny jeans! We poured ourselves into them 🤣. Mine were a pair of size 8 saspirellas! I used to put them on damp and have to lie on the bed to get them up ……

No wonder we celebrated when stretch jeans were invented! 🤣
I never had Saspirellas……only the Townies had those luxuries. 🤣
