Every time I am asked this question, I give the same answer; social media.
It’s not as if I spend an odious (now there’s a word I haven’t used in years) amount of time scrolling on social media, but I still find it draining and distracting. I’d rather spend my precious time writing than spend it on SM.
However, as a writer who has stories to promote, I need to be active on social media. I just wish I could get the balance right. At the moment, I’m hardly on it at all – the short break I took from it has turned into a very long break!
Maybe that’s what I need a break from… my social media break!
All advice welcome!

I think this balance is what all of us writers strive for. There must be a magic formula.

This is an easy one for me. I set a 30-minute daily limit for social media use. Once that time is up, I don’t return to it until the next day. It’s all about willpower.
By the way, don’t forget to add the BlueSky sharing button to your blog posts. It’s straightforward to do. Let me know if you need any assistance with adding it.

That’s a very good idea, Hugh. I actually will try that.
Oh, thanks for the reminder re Bluesky share button. I completely forgot that you mentioned that to me. 🙂

Watching TV in the evenings after a busy day… I’d like to use at least some of that time to get some writing in, and not just wait to do that until the weekend.

It’s usually around 9pm when I sit down in the evenings. I watch TV for an hour or so. I rarely write that late anymore. Not able. 😅 It has to be morning and afternoon for me.
