Cook Like a Boss. Day 2.

Little Miss Nine is delighted with so many likes and comments she got on Facebook and the blog yesterday. So thank you all! You can read yesterday’s post HERE if you missed it.

Motivation today is still at 10 and Stephano is drooling at the thoughts of chicken chowder for dinner. Chef Jeffers from Forestside Cookery School is teaching Little Miss Nine how to cook chicken chowder with sweet potato and corn, and cheesy cornbread. Perfect for a cold day like today!

Cook Like a Boss. Day 1.

Day one of cookery camp and Little Miss Nine is raring to go! Motivation levels on a scale of 1 to 10? Definitely 10. So far so good. For the next five days Little Miss Nine will be cooking under the instructions of Chef Jeffers from Forestside Cookery School – by video link.

Stephano has a week off work, so he’ll be here to join in the fun (and the supervising).

To get the fun going he ‘reluctantly’ put on an apron and a chef’s hat. Little Miss Nine made it clear that this was her gig and not his. Off with that hat Stephano!

Guggy Egg #SoCS

This post is part of Linda G Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday #SoCS. This week’s prompt is butter!

There was a discussion on the radio yesterday about guggy egg. What on earth is that?….I hear some of you ask.

It’s a boiled egg mashed up in a cup with a generous sprinkling of salt and a good big dollop of butter. Not the pretend stuff now…it has to be the real butter!

I never called it guggy egg though. It was just ‘egg in a cup’ in our house.

The first time I heard it being called guggy egg was from my friend Mohotma. I told her, ‘Okayyyyy Mohot, whatever you think’. I assumed it was a word she made up for her children. Y’know…thinking it would make the egg more appetising for them.

It’s surprising the number of parents who are of the belief that giving foods new (weird) names will make their children like them better. (Well, it does work sometimes)

So, I have to say I was surprised when I heard on the radio that hundreds of people eat guggy egg!

‘Terrified’-Sacha Black’s Writespiration!

As part of my writing exercise schedule, I decided to take part in Sacha Black’s 52 Week Writespiration.

Sacha gives a writing prompt or picture every week for 52 weeks and we have to tell our story in EXACTLY 52 words. I’m jumping in here at week 42 and the prompt this week is, Terrified.

“See you later,” she said.

“You will,” I replied.

I spoke with a smile but inside I cried.

I started to sweat, I put down my phone

My legs were jelly, I was chilled to the bone.

Fear engulfed me, it turned my hair curly

How will I survive dinner with Shirley!?
