Charli’s 99 word flash fiction prompt this week is; write a story about something a character never dreamed would happen.
Mine is for my besties, my kiddies and the man himself, Stephano!
This flash fiction story is in response to this week’s prompt for Charli Mills’ 99 word flash fiction series. Tell a story about tapping in 99 words. No more, no less.
Boogeyman
It was a wet stormy night when Anna’s husband went to work his night shift.
Later, her lover will come to her.
A fallen tree blocked the road, forcing her husband to return home. He slid into the bed beside her, cold and tired.
Soon after, she heard her lover tapping on the window. Anna reached into the cot beside her, and woke the baby with a nip. She lifted the crying tot, walked to the window, and sang these words out loud.
‘For the wind and the rain brought your daddy back again. Get away from the window, Boogeyman.’
A couple of months ago, I told you about My Perfect New Neighbour (to be).
So, who has been blessed with the privilege of living next door to moi? It’s the woman who sat in her car eating a family-size chocolate bar. Her name is Shirley and her husband is Terence. Aren’t they the lucky ones! Are we lucky to be living next door to them though? That is the question!
My dream neighbour specification; Someone friendly, quiet, my age, has one child aged six, wants to join a writing group, likes to go chéile dancing, likes to go for walks (on my terms), enjoys the occasional glass of wine and Guinness, listens to André Rieu, understands good ole Irish banter & sarcasm, and knows how to boil the kettle properly.
Did I get my dream neighbour? No, of course not.

I’m loving my new work space. I’ve waited so long for this room! I just want to be in it all time now.
My most productive time is during school hours for obvious reasons.
Little Miss Six does have siblings, but they’re all grown up and don’t live with us, so she depends on me & her daddy (when he’s not working) for communication and entertainment.
Any work I get done while she’s here is minimal. I don’t mind though because their childhood years are precious!

Yesterday morning I had stuff to do in town. Shop for a birthday present, post it away, order the internet and go for a coffee. Yes, the coffee shop was necessary because I needed to rest.

I tore my gastrocnemius over three months ago and I’m still in agony. Walking at the moment is torture. I finally made an appointment with a physiotherapist. Seeing him later!
It was afternoon by the time I got into my little haven. (I’m trying to think of an appropriate name to call my room. Any ideas?) Afternoon can be tricky. People demand my time.
Little Miss Six was home from school and Stephano was up from bed. (No, he doesn’t lie in bed half the day, he works a night shift sometimes!)
